Remote Learning Provision

Information for Parents

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if national and local restrictions require the whole school or entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home. You are able to download this document at the bottom of this page. 

Remote teaching and study time each day

How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?

We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:

Accessing remote education

 How will my child access any online remote education you are providing?

• Children have individual logins for their Seesaw accounts which have been shared with their parents and carers. (See separate guide to Seesaw)
• Children are able to access their teaching videos and learning activities through this account.
• Children will receive written and audio feedback from class teacher via this account.
• KS2 children will receive individual logins for accessing live interactive teaching sessions via Zoom. The logins will be sent to parents and carers. (See separate guide to Zoom)

How will my child be taught remotely?

We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:

• Teaching for all subjects will be via teaching videos. There will be class teacher created teaching videos, audio recordings created by class teachers and some teacher-selected videos, e.g. Oak Academy, White Rose and BBC Bitesize.
• Initially, live teaching lessons will take place for Key Stage Two children via Zoom. Links will be sent to parents and carers via email. Safeguarding protocols will be outlined.
• For those parents and carers who request them, every Thursday, printed paper packs produced by teachers will be available for collection and for return when completed.
• Bug Club will be used in place of children’s individual reading books.
• Abacus and TT Rockstars will be used to support the learning of key number facts and skills.
• Science Bug and BBC Bitesize will also be used to support individual learning.
• As is usual school practice, Power Projects will be set by year group teachers to enhance learning in the Creative Curriculum.

Engagement and feedback

What are your expectations for my child's engagement and the support that we as parents and carers should provide at home?

• A daily timetable will be posted for children via their Seesaw account.
• Daily teaching videos and learning tasks will be provided and the expectation is for pupils to engage with their daily learning.
• Please can parents and carers support us in setting routines and expectations to support your child’s education.

How will you check whether my child is engaging with their work and how will I be informed if there are any concerns?

• Teachers will feedback and comment on work and support learning daily during school hours. Any work submitted after these hours will be acknowledged the following school day.
• If parents or carers have any questions regarding their child’s learning or access to the learning and work, then please contact the year group teachers via the year group email.
• School will be in regular contact with families, as we were previously.

How will you assess my child's work and progress?

Feedback will be provided through Seesaw and, for Key Stage Two, during live interactive learning sessions. 

Additional support for pupils with particular needs

How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults at home to access remote education?

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:

• As is part of usual classroom practice, for remote education, teachers will set differentiated work to suit children of all abilities.
• The SENCO, year group and other staff will be in regular contact with children and families to support those families whose children have specific needs. Parents and carers can also contact them via year group and the whole school email.
